On Saturday, March 27, Lynn Valley Village was the scene of a tragic and senseless event in our community.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and our support to those that were hurt or injured. While the entire community mourns the loss and offers our support to all those affected, we thank the DNV Fire and Rescue Services, BC Ambulance, the RCMP and all first responders, including the many bystanders and employees of Lynn Valley Village who offered assistance. The perpetrator of the attack is in police custody and there is no further risk to the public.
Our shops and services have now reopened to the public.
For anyone needing support, a Wellness and Resilience Centre has been set up at Karen Magnussen Community Recreation Centre as a gathering place for members of the community to connect with each other and access services to support their mental and emotional well-being during this difficult time. The centre will be open, starting today and daily for the next seven days, from 11 am – 6 pm at Karen Magnussen Community Recreation Centre at 2300 Kirkstone Road.
We know that this has already been a difficult year for many and this may impact people in different ways. Please reach out for help if you need it.
Thank you.
