\nErik Bjarnason
\n\nErik Bjarnason is a career firefighter with t he North Vancouver City Fire Department\, a long-time member of North Shor e Rescue and an avid mountaineer. He has climbed mountains in Africa\, Eur ope\, Asia\, North America and South America\, completed a month-long dogs led trip in the Arctic to the magnetic North Pole and explored the entire length of the Amazon from the highest point in Bolivia to the Atlantic Oce an. He has been on expeditions to five of the Seven Summits (including Eve rest\, which he did after he lost his fingers on Mount Logan). He lives in North Vancouver\, British Columbia.

Stuart McNish
\n\nFor more than 25 years Stu has been involved in video journalism and storytelling. His on-camera career b egan at Shaw Cable in North Vancouver in 1988 where he hosted a half hour news-magazine program.
\nAfter completing his diploma in Broadcast J ournalism at BCIT\, he began his career in daily news working at what was then CKVU (now City) and at the same time at Equity Magazine.
\nIn t he fall of 1989 BCTV (now Global) recruited Stu and asked him to join the team at the NewsHour with Tony Parsons. Over the course of his career at B CTV he produced close to 2\,000 stories. Memorable series were the Nanaimo Commonwealth Holding Society\, Leaky Condos\, the Forest Practices Code a nd his coverage of Delgamuukw.
\nWhile at BCTV Stu's work was recogn ized by the Jack Webster Foundation when he was presented with the award f or Best Television Reporting.
\nIn 1998\, Stu left the station to st art Oh Boy Productions. Over the past 18 years the company has produced a number of news magazine programs including North of 49\, Empowered Health and currently Conversations That Matter\, which Stu hosts.
\nStu say s\, his entire career has been devoted to telling stories that matter. All of the work he has done has lead to the creation of Conversations That Ma tter a weekly interview show that is broadcast on numerous media outlets\, which Stu notes is “the most important work [he has] done'.
\nSam Wiebe
\n\n< p>Sam Wiebe is the author of the Vancouver crime novels Last of the Indepe ndents\, Invisible Dead\, and Cut You Down (forthcoming\, February 2018). Wiebe’s work has won an Arthur Ellis award and the Kobo Emerging Writers P rize\, and he was the 2016 Vancouver Public Library Writer in Residence. \n\nJacqueline van Dyk is the Director of Library services for the North Vancouver Distri ct Public Library. As an avid reader\, Jacqueline is thrilled to be a Whis ky Literature advocate for this year’s event.
\nJacqueline rejoin ed the NVDPL in 2013 after a 15 year hiatus. During the 1990s\, she was th e Library's manager of Systems and Technology\, responsible for (among man y other things) the Library's first hand-coded website. Jacqueline moved f rom NVDPL to lead the Library Systems department at Vancouver Community Co llege\, where she developed and supported systems‐related services for the students\, faculty and staff. Following VCC\, Jacqueline led the provinci al government's Libraries and Literacy branch\, formerly known as the Publ ic Library Services Branch\, where she worked to ensure that all British C olumbians have increased library access. As the provincial librarian\, she was responsible for provincial investments in libraries and literacy\, in cluding shared systems\, infrastructure projects\, policy and legislation.
\nJacqueline leads the Library with passion\, energy\, and a fresh perspective\, and is proud of the transformative work the library is doing for the community to connect\, share knowledge and inspire stories here i n the District of North Vancouver.
